What is Binge Eating Disorder?

Binge Eating Disorder (BED) is a serious eating disorder characterised by recurrent episodes of consuming large quantities of food within a relatively short period, accompanied by a sense of loss of control over eating during those episodes. People with BED often experience feelings of distress, guilt, or shame after binge eating.


Here are some key features and characteristics of Binge Eating Disorder:


  1. Binge eating episodes: Individuals with BED regularly engage in binge eating episodes, which involve eating an excessive amount of food in a short period (e.g., within a two-hour timeframe) and feeling unable to stop or control their eating during these episodes.
